Birdland Refracted (Milio Boogie and Kim Fox)

This deconstructed jazz experiment is inspired by avant-garde jazz and experimental sound art as we disassemble Lullaby in Birdland into scattered, flickering moments—notes stretch, reverse and collide with urban sounds, creating a sonic mosaic of the Harlem jazz scene.

Emiliano Quintanar (Milio Boogie) is a bilingual sound designer, podcast producer, and musician with a background in English Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, one of the most reputable universities in Latin America. Born in Mexico City and raised in Los Angeles, he developed an early passion for music and sound. A self-taught engineer, he landed a deal with EMI Records in 2005, releasing an album as part of Hip-Hop Hecho en México. Since then, he has composed, mixed, and engineered music for various artists while expanding into television, advertising and podcast production.

Kim Fox is a professor of practice at The American University in Cairo in Egypt. She has coached her students to produce more than 100 award-winning audio pieces. She’s also a scholar-creative conducting top-tier academic research on Global Majority podcasts and podcasters.
